Thymus vulgaris L. commonly known as thyme or garden belonging to family Lamiaceae is a pleasant smelling flowering perennial shrub, cultivating all over the world. Thyme has great importance due possibility of its use in various applications, food additives, medicines and cosmetic industry. leaves are highly aromatic therefore used fresh dried seasoning variety culinary applications including soups, stews, sauces, meat, fish dishes for flavoring liqueurs, herbal tea preparations. an important medicinal plant, endorse broad range therapeutic properties their chemical components such antirheumatic, antidermatophytic, antioxidants, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antimicrobial, cardiac, carminative, astringent, diuretic expectorant. The plant also useful against cough, cold, chest infections, diabetes digestive upset. Flavonoids have good potential antioxidants antifungal behavior. present review article gives comprehensive information about traditional utility pharmacological activities thymus constituents.
